GOYR 2022 Internship Program

Internship roles are designed for middle/high school students and college students. All Interns over the age of 18yrs old must complete a background check.

Youth Programming- Empowering Youth Leadership Program

This position will offer many learning opportunities to interns, including personal training in business management, youth program development, and leadership skills. Interns in this position will work closely with the Empowering Youth Leadership Program Manager to further develop the program lessons and assist in teaching students business, leadership, horsemanship, and ranch care skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing lesson plans for Empowering Youth Leadership meetings.
  • Lead lessons during Empowering Youth Leadership meetings.
  • Guide EYLP students through program activities during lessons.
  • Facilitate EYLP student-led events such as Family Fun Night under the guidance of Ranch Leadership Staff.

Time commitment:

  • Tuesdays and Thursdays between May 31st and August 11th, 2022: 6 pm to 8 PM
  • Attend at least 2 of the 3 Family Fun Nights for summer 2022: June 24th, July 29th, and August 12th
  • Approximately 2 hours per month between March and May on the weekends for leadership training.

Archery- Center Leader

Interns in this position will work under the guidance of a trained archery instructor. The intern will learn how to use the archery equipment. They will also then instruct guests and students at the ranch how to use the archery equipment. This intern will lead the archery center during ranch events and youth program lessons.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing archery lesson plans for Empowering Youth Leadership meetings.
  • Lead archery lessons during EYLP meetings.
  • Facilitate the archery center during ranch events such as Family Fun Night and ranch rental events.

Time commitment:

  • Every other Tuesday between May 31st and August 11th, 2022: 6 pm to 8 PM.
  • Attend at least 2 of the 3 Family Fun Nights for summer 2022: June 24th, July 29th, and August 12th.
  • Approximately 2 hours per month between March and May on the weekends for archery training.

Ranch Care- Facilities & Maintenance

Interns in this position will work under the guidance of the GOYR Caretaker and other Ranch Care leaders. This intern will learn how to use the archery equipment and instruct guests and students at the ranch how to use the archery equipment. This intern will lead the archery center during ranch events and youth programming.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in leading orientations for new ranch care volunteers.
  • Assess the ranch property weekly during the summer to identify ranch care needs.
  • Guide Empowering Youth Leadership students through facility maintenance projects.
  • Lead ranch volunteers in property projects such as repairing fencing and weeding.

Time commitment:

  • Every Thursday between May 31st and August 11th, 2022: 6 pm to 8 PM.
  • Approximately 2 hours per month between March and May on the weekends for ranch care training.
  • One Saturday a month during June, July, and August.
  • Flexible scheduling during the summer months to assist with new ranch care volunteer orientation.

Youth Programming- Hangin’ at the Ranch

Gain experience working with a Non-Profit organization Youth Program, in a Ranch outdoor environment. Assist to strengthen the Hangin’ at the Ranch program working with the Program Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and implement program activities for children 5yrs old through 11yrs. Circle Time, Snack time, Ranch chores, Games, Arts & Crafts, and Archery
  • Know and understand emergency procedures associated with the Ranch
  • Supervise participants and ensure their safety, development, growth, skill achievement, and general well-being.
  • Help to maintain the organization and cleanliness of the Activity Center.

Time commitment:

  • June 6th through August 1st, Monday’s 8:15am to 12pm
  • No program for 4th of July
  • Meetings and trainings- To be determined
  • Spring Break Hangin’ at the Ranch March 21st
  • Family Fun Nights - Participation in helping during the event would be appreciated, but not required.

Youth Programming- EYLP Homeschooling Program

Gain Experience working with a Non-Profit Organization, Empowering Youth Leadership Program, in a fun Ranch environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and implement EYLP curriculum and Ranch Care Activities for students 6th grade through 12th Grade.
  • Know and understand emergency procedures associated with the Ranch
  • Supervise Participants and ensure their safety, development, growth, skill achievement, and general well-being.
  • Help to maintain the organization and cleanliness of the Activity Center.
  • Help in the organization of the GOYR Easter Egg Hunt

Time Commitment

  • March 1, 2022 through April 6, 2022
  • Tuesday and Thursday 9:30am - 12pm
  • Easter Egg Hunt- Saturday April 2, 2022
  • Meetings and Trainings- To be determined
